Your reaction sets the tone. Take deep breaths and stay as calm as possible.
2️⃣ Acknowledge and Label Their Feelings:
Validate your child’s emotions by saying, “I
understand you’re upset. I know you want this toy ,really big like this whole room .
3️⃣ Keep Communication Simple:
Use simple and clear language to express that their wish is not an option right now and they are allowed to get upset about it .
“It feels so bad , I know !” or “Being a kid can be so hard” …“ You are incharge of your feelings and allowed to get upset”
4️⃣ Offer Choices:
Giving available options can help your child feel a sense of control.
5️⃣ Distraction Works: Divert their attention to a different activity or object.
6️⃣ Ensure Safety:
Make sure your child and others are safe during a tantrum.
7️⃣ Stay Patient and be Present
Remember, tantrums are HEALTHY and NORMAL part of child development and will pass.
