Hernia is a soft lump or bulge under the skin.
In newborn , a hernia often happens in 1 of these 2 places:
1.The groin area…. called an inguinal hernia.
2.Around the belly button… called an umbilical hernia.

Hernia can occur at any age and most common in
newborns but may not be noticeable for several weeks or
months after birth.
Umbilical hernia is most common in Newborns and usually dissapear by 1yr of age without any intervention.
When your child has an inguinal hernia, you can usually see a bulge in the groin or scrotum. So the bulge will typically come and go and may get bigger after your child is straining or crying. Inguinal hernia is a surgical emergency in children and should be operated at earliest. Visit your doctor at earliest. Treatment is surgical and has a very good outcome. Stay Safe Happy and Healthy!
